It’s that time of year again where the flowers are blooming, the winter jackets are stored away, the sun begins to peek out slowly and the semi annual purge many Canadian’s go through – spring cleaning season!

Carpeting and Rugs

From feet to spills – your carpets are some of the most abused part of your home. To start off your carpet cleaning, start by vacuuming the area and focusing on particularly dirty spots for 30-45 seconds. For rugs, make sure you vacuum under the carpeting as well to get rid of anything that may have snuck there over the winter months. Windows

Then pour baking soda over a sieve and dust the mattress evenly which will draw out moisture and eliminate any odors. Leave the baking soda on your mattress while you dress your bed. Vacuum the baking soda off your mattress the next time you need to change your sheets.

Refrigerator

Take the time during your cleaning rituals to face the daunting task of organizing your fridge. This includes wiping spills or stains off with a wet wipe and throwing out any old food that may spoil. In addition, wash the interior with a solution of baking soda and warm water to prevent any bacterial growth.
